re: Compaq is actually wringing more profit out of these cheap boxes than many of its higher-priced products.

If anyone thinks Compaq is getting more margin from sub-$1000 than servers and workstation PII models and also laptops, i've got some land in Louisiana i want to sell you. Ridiculous statement with no argument or evidence.
