Great idea. Drop the tariff on sugar and sugar products. Florida and Hawaii could quit growing sugar. Those people could quit paying taxes and go on welfare. Something else would get taxed to make up for the shortfall, say higher property taxes. Rents might go up and tourism might drop off but who needs those pesky tourists spending money.
