I often think my experience was worse in hindsight, as I closed out the last of my trading positions by the first Friday in March of 2009. I was heading to Europe for a 2 week ski trip and I was not going to "Let Ride" positions that I couldn't watch closely in that "scary" market. The market bottomed that next Monday!!

By the time I came back, the rebound had started in earnest, so it was hard to jump back in as the stocks kept climbing. For me, it was just the luck of the draw, bad timing. I came back and bought enough to handsomely profit but had I simply held the positions I closed the week before my trip, I would have had much greater gains in a number of significant plays!!
