Company Press Release

Ten Million Down, and Counting

Iomega Announces Zip Drive Shipment Milestone

Zip is the New Standard in High-Capacity Removable Storage

ROY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 1997--Iomega(R) Corporation (NYSE:IOM - news) today announced that worldwide shipments of the award-winning Zip(TM) drive have surpassed ten million.

The Zip drive's phenomenal market adoption since its introduction in March of 1995 makes it the new standard in high-capacity removable storage -- providing customers with a fun, easy-to-use solution that allows them to maximize the potential of their computer.

By offering customers unlimited computer storage via its 100MB capacity Zip disks, the Iomega Zip drive is a ''must-have'' storage solution for today's personal computers. The Zip drive is currently, or will be, built-in as a standard or optional feature by leading desktop and notebook computer makers, and by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Such computer manufacturers include Acer, Apple, Chicony Electronics Co., Clevo Co., Compal, Compaq, Dell, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, IBM, Micron Electronics, Motorola, Packard Bell, NEC, Power Computing, Siemens Nixdorf, NEC Computer Systems Division, Sony, UMAX, and Unisys.

''Shipping ten million Zip drives since its introduction only two years and nine months ago is a clear indication that the users know Zip is now the new standard in high-capacity removable storage solutions,'' said Kim B. Edwards, president and CEO of Iomega. ''By offering customers a simple, affordable, and reliable product, the Zip drive and disks make it easier to move, use, and share their stuff with one another.''

Enabling Customers To Do More with Their Computer

As people do more with their computers, such as downloading big Internet files, running multimedia programs, working with colorful graphics and digital images - Iomega's Zip drive allows them to reliably store their stuff. Today's corporate environment, for example, is increasingly reliant on advanced software and multimedia applications for business and information sharing - and the Zip drive is supporting this need for a reliable, high-capacity removable storage system that lets them get the job done.

Redefining the Boundaries: Zip Drive Is the New Standard for High Capacity Storage

Today's milestone news follows several recent announcements that further demonstrate the growing industry recognition that Iomega's Zip drive is the new standard in high-capacity removable storage, including:

-- Micron Electronics, Inc. recently announced that, beginning in early 1998, all future Micron Millennia(R) computers will ship with the Zip drive installed as Drive A:.

''In our opinion, Zip is the floppy of the multimedia age. Our Millennia line strives to be a step ahead of the cutting edge, and having Zip as Drive A: will mold the future of computing,'' said Joe Daltoso, Micron Electronics Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. ''We've planned the integration of Zip into our bezel as Drive A:. It is no longer an after-thought or an upgrade; rather, it is a standard feature we will bring to our customers with our new industrial design.''

Symantec(R) Corporation and Iomega recently announced Norton(tm) Zip Rescue(tm), a Windows (R) 95 recovery system that incorporates extensive and innovative rescue utilities into the upcoming 3.0 release of Symantec's award-winning Norton Utilities with an Iomega Zip drive and disk. The combination offers a powerful disaster recovery solution that quickly and easily fixes common Windows 95 system problems.
Iomega also announced it is currently shipping its notebook-ready Zip drive to computer manufacturer partners to provide mobile users high capacity, high performance removable storage.

Iomega announced its next generation ZipPlus(tm) drive in August which, in addition to all of the benefits of the original Zip drive, features improved performance, easier connections, enhanced portability and a suite of multimedia software.
