The violence is a reminder of how danagerous the heated political rhetoric is to our democracy.

Frankly I haven't heard any dangerous rhetoric from the right - but the left uses it all the time with "you're dead to me" and "I hope you die" - from such places as the Daily KOS and bathtub boy on MSLSD.

Bathtub boy was showing signs at a tea party rally with "Kill the Bill" and they don't mean Clinton - this is a time honored phrase, nothing dangerous there.
