Some states, don't know about Arizona, have hate speech laws that make certain phrases and wordings a crime.

I might wonder if one might be crafted to protect the desecration of the dead.

Additionally, defamatory civil laws might come into play here inasmuch if a group is implying god's judgment against the person isn't that the same as calling a person evil?

Before one can do that to a non-public figure they have to have a factual basis that supports it (to be liability free--and actually after you do it as courts are very reluctant to shut down speech before the fact).

Anyway, I'm thinking this might be a way to get these people into court and force them, at least, to spend money in their defense, and ultimately make the whole exercise too expensive for them to continue.

The grieving family probably doesn't want a legal hassle, but, I wonder if some public interest legal group might not take up this cause--on their behalf. Not saying I've thought all the angles on this through though.
