That article didn't seem to have any "new" information. The shooter was a troubled person -- likely mentally ill. His on-line material and the testimony of those that went to school with him paint him as very disturbed (as was the case with many other people that took shots at famous people going back many years).

There is no sense in trying to make the situation seem logical because it is not logical -- same was true when John Lennon was shot or Ronald Reagan was shot or perhaps even John Kennedy.
