GB, I live in Mexico at the moment. This is not a direct answer to your question but I can assure you that strict gun control laws in Mexico have not helped one iota in stopping the deaths of thousands of people in this country in the last two years, something on the order of 30,000+. Now, are these murders committed with handguns? Who knows what percentage are. My point is that a far greater percentage of the population of this country have been gunned down with a logrithmically stricter gun control policy. American criminals will always be able to get guns whether they are sold in the U.S. or not. I can assure you that they are not sold here to the citizenry except by special appointment but it doesn't matter.
