Paul,

<<Maybe it was all Sarah Palin's fault!>>

People will see in this event what they want to see. But, in my opinion, it would take an ostrich with its head in the sand to say that all the vitriol that is out there doesn't influence people, especially the unstable ones who have difficulty with separating reality from fantasy.

With regards to Palin, I don't think this is her fault but I think she contributes to the vitriol with her manner of speech and therefore is somewhat complicit here. It sounds like she is being defensive about some of the things she has done/said in the past so it would appear even she sees that there may be some connection with her methods.

People/politicians can still get their points across without branding people as evil. Just because you disagree with someone doesn't make them evil. As Dale and many others have said many times, what is missing is a civil discussion of the issues. If this senseless massacre will have any meaning, maybe it will help get this country back on track towards that civil discourse(but I doubt it since there is so much money that is to be made from being uncivil over the airwaves).
