What if a nutcase like Loughman had taken a shot at Bush? We'd be having this same discussion but the sides would be flipped. The Right blamed left leaning journalists for John Hinckley's and Arthur Bremer's (The man who shot George Wallace..) assassination attempts. Bremer had Black Panther literature in his car (and other left wing material in his home..)... but in reviewing his background and motivations it eventually became clear that he was daft. en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org.
