Mistermj, telling people to go out and talk to their neighbors isn't encouraging violence, even if you say "get in their face." It's still about talking. But I don't think it was necessary for him to say that.

The thing with the latino voters was just about voting for people who "stand with us on the issues" and not voting for those who don't. He said "don't sit out the election."

You're a lot closer on the knife, gun thing. That was also unnecessary.

So that gives you three statements, total, one of which is really not about violence at all. The two remaining statements do not make your case, because they are very rare examples. The tone of Obama's rhetoric is almost always calm, rational, conciliatory, and reasonable.
