There is no evidence of any direct connection.

But there is no need to come to Sarah Palin's defense. There is plenty of evidence that her speeches, rhetoric, or images that she is responsible for are irresponsible. What does that have to do with any left wing bad behavior. Is it her defense that left wing bad behavior made her utter stupid stuff.

The fact that Giffords complained about Palins actions before being shot is a connection. It may not be a causal or direct connection, but it is a connection.
