and...

D's had similar maps so no big deal. This guy has it right, IMO:

"The chickens have come home to roost. Are we really astounded by a single act of violence in the US as if it's an anomaly? The media reports daily inner city deaths as gang and drug related amongst the "brown" people. Violence and death is celebrated as a daily supplement of the american diet. From sports to wars to video games onto media fantasies displayed on all channels. Krugman searches cause and effect in the political arena. Blame assigned and finger-pointing rhetoric will not close Pandora's Box. It's time we man-up to our collective responsibility to the normalization of violence. In the USA we sanitize public viewing of our foreign wars with nifty titles of Shock and Awe broadcast as if its' a new TV series interspersed with commercials. The destruction and mutilation of humanity under the guise of pre-emptive defense. 10 years at war in foreign lands and Americans have mastered cognitive dissonance. We blackout the return of our soldiers in caskets and body bags; cognitive dissonance. We denounce countries and their occupants as terrorists and claim we are the victims not the aggressor. We initiate violent acts on a daily basis around the world and award the president the Nobel Peace Prize. Drone planes killing wedding parties and we celebrate and publicize "terrorists" interrogations and deaths. Waterboarding is deemed humanitarian. The Geneva Convention ignored as outdated. We conveniently ignore our foreign policies of invasion and empire building. Perhaps Krugman should've written a commentary on economics and the stressors of income inequality as the root of violence. Psychology and preaching of morality should be left to the experts."
