This is such typical American government and media crap - every time something happens they're making new laws immediately before they even know what happened. The guy appears to be insane but no one had the power to have him examined including the sheriff who it now appears knew this guy pretty well due to past run ins. I don't want to see cops confiscating guns of people that get kicked out of school, but in this case there has to be something that could have been done - pretty sure making a 1000 ft "safe zone" around the political class will do nothing.
