Gov. Pat Quinn congratulated fellow Democrats early today after the Illinois Senate and House sent him a major income tax increase without a single Republican vote in favor. The bill would raise the personal income tax-rate by 67 percent and the business income tax rate by 46 percent.

Isn't this "partisan" reporting? They could just have easily have written "the new Illinois personal income tax rate will be 5% less than the California personal income tax rate."

Taxes suck, but 5% doesn't seem too egregious. I wonder where it puts Illinois compared to the other 50 states?
