Karen,

I am shocked at your socialism - No, don't tax the people who make the yachts. Just tax those high priced tag items over $5 million a National Sales Tax.

This was pushed through once before in the 80's and resulted in the layoffs of thousands of engineers and blue collar workers at Piper, Cessna, Lear, Beachcraft and scores of Yacht builders.

I moved to Wichita back then and bought a brand new home that had been idle for 2 years after a collapse in the market due to layoffs in the private plane business. I saw one estimate of 50,000 idle workers in New England alone in the boat business.

Luxury items are subject to elastic demand - no one needs a G4 or a Yacht. Stick a big tax and they just walk away....

John
