Add to that the fact that Blue Dogs are disappearing anyway. It's like why try to be one anymore....pick a clear cut side and move on. This came up in conversation Sunday.

Interesting. I would imagine that quite a few Blue Dogs are re-registering as Independents, especially those who value fiscal responsibility, but feel uncomfortable with the religious conservative wing of the GOP.

I'm a (small l) libertarian who registered Republican this year for the first time, primarily due to the influence of the Tea Party in the GOP, and because the way the system is set up, the Libertarian Party as a separate entity is, and can only remain, irrelevant.

If the GOP can hew to the principles of smaller, less intrusive government on all levels, freedom, liberty and fiscal restraint, then I'll remain on board. If they pull their old "once back in power, then we'll play the same old games" again, then I'll be back outta there in a hurry..
