I believe you've asked me before, awhile back. (I might have you confused with someone else though, I'm not sure). I answered then (and if you care that much you should be able to find it, at least if you have the rights on SI to use advanced search), but before I answer this time, I'd like you to show some relevance.
I wasn't making any kind of attack on science, or statement in support of religion, again "falsifiable" does not mean "false". But even if I had been attacking science and/or supporting religion my own religious beliefs would be pretty irrelevant to the issue. They would perhaps be the reason for the argument I was making under that hypothetical scenario, but they would say nothing about whether or not my arguments where correct. The same goes for any other personal quality, where I was born, what ethnic/racial group I belong to, where I went to school, etc. None of those are relevant to an argument I make. The validity of an argument, and the truth of its conclusion (which are separate issue BTW), both stand and fall by themselves, they are not determined by or dependent on the person making the argument or their personal qualities or history. |
