Rep. Peter King wants to make political events gun free, just as the administration of Virginia Tech made the campus gun free and "safe" for students.

"Rep. Peter King to introduce bill making it illegal to carry a gun within 1,000 feet of 'high-profile' government official"

news.yahoo.com;

King was interviewed on Fox this morning. He admitted that his proposed legislation would not have prevented Loughner from bringing a gun to the event. King suggests, however, that police are trained to spot suspicious behavior and could then question an individual to determine if he is armed.

What rubbish.

There was no police presence at Saturday's event. All King's legislation will do is create another "gun free zone" where someone with evil intentions will know he is likely able to squeeze off a large number of rounds and not be in much danger of being stopped by a gun toting citizen.
