I agree wholeheartedly. These analysts are something to behold. Coms is unbelievably oversold at this point. All this in less than a week
(from $43-to $31) with no real news, just innuendo and speculation.
I'm sure you've read the "Fool" piece, which attributes Com's asian exposure(5% of revenues could be at risk) and a supposed ("less than optimal") high inventory of modems (no figures), and the
accounting article in the NY Times as the basis for the selling (Coms stock). At $31 a share, Coms' market cap is 10 billion with revenues of 5 billion(1998) and income of,say, 700 million ($2.00/share est.)
I think what we're witnessing is the herd mentality. No real news, only the sentiment to sell coms. The shorts are in control, but that is going to change soon. At these prices, Coms is a gift. If it goes into the 20's, I'm going to bet the ranch.
