My wife has seen him do some sparring, but she doesn't like to watch. She'll eventually come to the matches, but I'm not sure she'll ever like them. I had never really thought about the strategy in wrestling before. But it became pretty clear after awhile when the coach would have the boys choose top or bottom. I was really amazed that jxn ended up being the aggressor. I was afraid the "nice kid" thing would have him holding back. Extremely pleased that I was completely wrong. He seems to really enjoy wrestling and he loved the camaraderie with the team. And he got lots of positive feedback after that first match. I don't think he is ready to do it year round, but then again, he is only 11 years old. I am definitely going to be working in more conditioning with his baseball team. So hopefully he won't lose too much of the conditioning in the off season.
