What's more important is that Thompson's massive advertizing is causing other TV makers to join gemstar's "flock". I am looking
forward to SONY, MATSHUSITA etc. join in the fray. The important thing
is that TVGUIDE needs to gain acceptance so that Gemstar can start
charging for advertisement over TVGUIDE.
I am hoping for a nice jump after the Winter CES(maybe into the
35-45 range) after GMSTF gets more manufacturer's interest.
This stock has traded in that range when it had competition from
VIDEOGUIDE and SGHT. Now that the 2 mergers are successful, I am
confident that its poised for stock price appreciation.
Anyone has news of MSFT licensing gemstar's patents for its Win98?
Also, since ORCL is getting into the cable set top box business,
how does that jive with GMSTF/SGHT combined patents and SGHT's
positioning in the set top box business. Would GMSTF exact a
licensing fee from ORCL(like it did MSFT)?
Any thoughts from the all the people( ;) ) following this thread
would be appreciated.
