I've been watching the situation, and am not convinced that there is much hard basis for optimism in Asia right now. The Japanese banks are getting thin, there are almost certainly going to be some bankruptcies in Korea even if they keep the currency in line, and there's a good chance the Japanese are going to start selling US interest-bearing securities soon. To tell you the truth, I think things are worse than the markets have absorbed thus far.
