The convenience of millions of people is something to be considered not casually dismissed. Esp. when as in this case you get almost nothing for giving up that convenience and you give up more than just convenience. For someone who needs to wait a day or two, or several, or a week, or a month for a gun, but doesn't face a particular threat and is lucky enough not to need the weapon for self defense during the waiting period, its just a matter of convenience. Still a point worth considering, but not in that case a matter of life and death.
