Perhaps I'm not up with the 'cool kids' these days... but I have no idea what it's 'modern meaning' supposedly is. All I know is the original and only meaning that I've ever been acquainted with, dating from the Middle Ages... that 'Jews stole and slaughtered Christian's children' in furtherance of some sort of super-secret 'blood sacrifices' they the libel rumored they had going on. That original 'blood libel' was the igniting spark for many a lively and bloody pogram and slaughter back in the old days... many a burning-at-the-stake (the better to aid in the confiscation of their wealth, don't 'cha know.....) And that sad history has perpetrated itself down into relatively 'modern' times, (last reference to it that I had run across, prior to this year, was from Hitlerian history....)
