You made a good point about "wants". But then if you consider the notion of separation of church and state, then we need to ask if it is proper for him to use the bully pulpit to propagate a faith. There are other faiths like Buddhism which is similar to Christianity. The main difference: Buddha did not meet a violent death as Christ did.
