Everybody needs to learn to do something on their own if they lose a job, whether it be selling crap on Ebay or Stock Trading or selling bottles with ships in them...something, anything! Experts all say to have 6 months of earnings in the bank. I say BS. Everybody should be running some kind of hobby/business that makes money on the side outside of their regular employment, that, if they did lose their job, they could devote full time to and make money at. I wonder what that looks like on a resume? I would think pretty good. Let's say you are a stock trader and make a decent living at it for a year while interviewing for the right job. I can see the employer say, BS, you were unemployed for a year and we aren't interested. Attach the documentation. What would they say then? Still considered unemployed?
