According to a note about four messages back, the news about Vinod Dham hit the DOW news wire at 19:52 (that's from memory, but you can see the message I was responding to for yourself).
From what I know about the corporate culture, Intel normally does not take people who have "defected" to competitors back into the fold; Paul can perhaps tell us more, as a former Intel employee (I'm sure that John Hull could also, but won't). This is not an uncommon policy, but it's one area in which I might tend to disagree with the Intel culture.
That said, we really don't, and probably never will, know what happened. Did he jump, or was he pushed ? And, in either case, why ? It is however, a shock. As I said, I thought he was Jerry's heir apparent. It's possible, in fact, that he was and that this is exactly the reason that he is now gone. Someone might have felt threatened. But that is just conjecture about one of many possible scenarios. |
