GOOG is almost unusable in China. I tried it when I went there (I was there for 2 weeks this year). It's not just that the traffic goes via Hongkong and content is limited, it's also fairly slow.

Bing works better in China and then there are of course Chinese search engines (which I have not tried.). I think GOOG is dead in the water in China.
