The problem for republicans is an improving economy. They are not going to win anything, if the economy improves. They were elected because Americans were worried about the economy, and imo if they think they were elected for any other reason they are dreaming. They can hope and pray for more economic meltdowns- which is, I think, their only hope- but if the economy improves slowly and steadily, they are lost. I imagine things will get pretty shrill if and when they figure that out.
