Only a true fanboy cares about share. I don't think it's quite that cut and dry. There are some tanglible benefits to share that no one on this thread has yet articulated (developer reach, accessory support, etc). IPhone won't be as appealing to the high end market if it ceases to be the first one getting 3rd party support. On a related note, there are also benefits to scale from a component sourcing standpoint. Apple does have to tread a fine line here between maintaining their incredible profitability and the risk of being marginalized like they were with the Mac.
