Big Bucks, the Jan '98 LEAPs I mentioned have still 2 months to go till expiration. They were priced at 80/share last August but a lot cheaper now; I won't recommend you buying them now since they are depreciating quicker as they near expiration...What I recommend buying are 1999 or 2000 LEAPs that are slightly Out The Money as they are cheaper than their In The Money counterparts and thus you get more LEAPs for your money. If the stock's price is below 30, get 30, 35 or 40 exercise prices; if the stock is below 25, get 25, 30 or 35. It's fine to get the 1999's as they have over a year's life in them; a years time is more than enough for AMAT to come back to its highs this time around. You can roll them over to the 2000's later about 6 months before they expire. Of course you can always sell the LEAPs anytime and play them as you play stocks. Short-term trading with In The Money LEAPs is also way to go as Tech Buyer suggested and as I've done also before...Happy Investing!...
