TOMORROW'S MARKET TONIGHT: BARGAIN HUNTING

TIM KEEFE -- manager of John Hancock's Special Value
(SPVAX), Growth & Income (TAGRX) and
Fundamental Value (JHFVX) funds -- was
understandably depressed by Wednesday's market dive.
"On days like this, you just want the year to end," he says.
But he's actually feeling upbeat about Thursday's prospects.
"Things have been gloomy," says Keefe. "But I think
tomorrow we'll try to rally again."

Based on what? Perhaps not much more than some simple
bargain hunting. "There are several stocks and several
sectors that are at decent levels here," he says, specifically
pointing to technology stocks that get hit hardest in a market
downturn because of their natural volatility. It is these stocks
that will look attractive to buyers Thursday, and that are
most likely to rebound. Says Keefe: "Where the most pain
has been is the best place to start."
