One thing I forgot to mention with the histogram of my IRA is that most of the "stock" components tend to be on the "dividend" or "value" side of the equation. FVL is the exception being the Timely stocks of Value Line.

With that in mind, note that distributions from the "income" and "stock" sides of the portfolio were nearly enough to pay for all of last Summer's buying. The Cash Reserve barely dipped during that period.



So, having this portfolio's design be what some would term "balanced" actually has helped its abilities with AIM. This can also be seen during the sad times of '08 and '09. I was able, using distributions from the various components, to continue to do some periodic buying as enough $$$ collected to justify the expenditures.

In general, I feel AIM does a better job of deploying the distributions than does "Dollar Cost Averaging." So, I take the dividends and distributions as cash. That really helped during the bad times and didn't waste the precious cash resource buying expensive shares prior to the '08 - '09 panic.
