Sure, but more often that not they are not. That's part of the reality of being in the minority.

It has to do with equal rights for all.

What rights are you discussing? If the majority says a marriage is a bond between the sexes, what right is being abridged by saying no such gay right exists? A legal right enshrined somewhere in the constitution? In which amendment? If not a legal right, then from where?

There are lots of legal precedents involving marriage, all of them involving two sexes. Is there one single precedent involving a same sex couple? To claim that all of the precedents involving two sexes should apply to same sex couples is a HUGE leap, no?
