There are two enclaves for just the very wealthy in nearby northern Bergen County. Neither is willing to pay for a public library.

Since you know a lot about libraries, I am curious what you think the wealthy would need from local libraries. Books and magazines are very cheap for a high income home, the Internet offers all the electronic access they could want, movie rentals are easy, etc.

If these really are just high-end enclaves, I am not surprised they don't want to subsidize a public access facility that may not have much of a user base in their towns.

But I am just guessing on much of that.

PS My wife downloads audio books from our county library system but I have never used any of their services in the 4 1/2 years we have lived in the area. No need to, for me personally. But I don't mind subsidizing them for others.
