Vertex a target for Gilead?

The linked article is more about Gilead's challenges in the next few years but is has info on Vertex as a potential target.

Why not? Gilead has a major HIV franchise. Vertex lead drug looks likely to be a blockbuster in HCV. Gilead has the cash flow and needs to be more aggressive than just defending HIV sales. Gilead faces patent expiry issues and Vertex would be a good fit. More reading here
