Driving a car doesn't usually result in death either whether for business, convenience, or pleasure...but would you like to see cars unregulated???

Driving a car is more likely to result in death. Also once again your attacking a straw man with your implication, almost no one is arguing for no regulations on either guns or cars.

The NRA doesn't oppose almost everything associated with guns??

They are for arguably sensible restrictions on guns, things like not allowing convicted felons to have them. They oppose many proposed gun control regulations, because those regulations are typically useless or counterproductive, and often of dubious constitutionality.

Why would they object to banning large ammo clips, assault style guns??? Against lead shot for hunting?

Outlawing large ammo clips falls in to the nearly useless category. Outlawing "assault weapons", a category mostly defined by cosmetic features, falls in to the totally useless at best category. Outlawing lead shot, leaves you with alternatives that cost more and don't perform as well.
