Yes, it's an option, but the question is where to. You don't
want to live in "cheap labor" countries. Yes, the standard
of living will improve, but from where? It's nowhere near
US standard of living. Better stay put, but it's
probably best to have a home away from everybody. Even then,
nothing is guaranteed.

If I had to pick where to, OZ and Canada would pop in mind.
That said, I don't think it will be all that much better
there. It's not very likely US will be much worse off than
Europe, the key difference is guns. So far parts of Europe
are much worse than US.
