The judge ruled the individual mandate that requires all Americans to purchase health insurance invalid and, according to the decision, "because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire Act must be declared void." not being a lawyer, can someone explain why this bill passed by Congress & signed by the President, is deemed "unconstitutional" ? My Understanding is : Congress passes bills, President signs it as law. I fail to understand the role of judiciary here - I believe they are there to help interpret law, not question it.
