China is creating an artificial boom in their economy. One of the key things that I learned in 2000 is that booms must bust. I am convinced that, where you may be able to change the period of an economic cycle, you can only do it at the cost of increasing the amplitude.

Like you say, we shall see if China has found a way to smooth economic cycles. I don't think so. And I believe that the pin that pops their bubble will be when the no longer have cheap coal to keep the lights burning.

I'm not one of the people that is enamored with China's economic policy.
