It's simple why we support dictators etc.: when the foreign gov't is pro-US multinational corp, we back them up 100%

So.. who's supporting the dictators in Burma?

Who's propping up Hugo Chavez in Venezuela in order to secure oil resources?

Sudan?

Other nations in Africa?

The one thing that is probably saving Egypt from total chaos at the moment is that their military has been armed with US weapons, their officers demonstrating professionalism in maintaining order..

It's not likely to be perfect at any time, but sometimes the alternative to dictatorships, such a Islamic totalitarian regimes, are the lesser of two evils.

At least we have SOME influence, if only that the Egyptian Generals know they need the US to maintain their equipment.
