If minute by minute posting of Hong Kong and South East Asian stock market indexes, is not the proof of how fear rather than logical thinking rules this market, then I do not know how to describe these postings!!! I guess the next thing we hear is that Bill Clinton would go on national TV and would announce that he would give the presidency of the United Stated to Saddam Hossein because of the great powers in addition to the intelligence that Saddam Hossein possesses and brings to the US (and to the world in general)!!
What is going on?! US equity investors are scared to death of an insignificant economy half way around the world whose people really believe in gambling more than than investing, and think of investment as a passive leisuer time?! Oh my god, this is getting really ridiculous! People are throwing out the shares of companies such as ASND, INTC, SUNW, LSI, COMS, ... just because Hong Kong or these other South East Asian countires can not afford buying their technology?!!! Anyone who thinks as such, may I make a suggestion? Stop, and think! This is late 20th century. The technology that companies such as INTC, ASND, COMS,SUNW,... provide is not a matter of luxury but a matter of survival and continuation of having a sound economic prosperity! In a way it is sort of like a homeless guy who does not have any money. Can anyone say that just because he is out of money he no longer needs to eat any food?!! The fact is that homeless person will try anything, (from work to begging at intersections) to get some food, otherwise he simply dies! Similarly, the so called South East Asian countries in order to survive need to have access to the technologies provided to them by the US high tech firms. It is not a matter of choice anymore! And if their current economic situation does not allow them to pay for the high techs, then tough! They will come up with the money one way or another!
So come on, at least on SI since most of us are small investors who share the sentiment that an individual is smart enough to make his/her own decisions and thinking process, we can all behave (or at least try to act) logically! The universe runs in an orderly fashion. Chaos can never survive in an ordered universe. Therefore soon logic will take control of the market. Those who kept their logic during the chaos will gain greatly, while those who went along with the idiots letting their short lived fearful emotions control them will lose to the point of never forgiving themselves!
