What a utopian view of the world you have.. Incredibly naive.

You cannot change or influence a bad situation if you don't engage yourself.

Look at Egypt again. If Egypt was receiving primarily Chinese weapons, do you think the Military would be hesitating in beating down this uprising?

But no.. they have US made weapons and they need spare parts and ammunition for them. Therefore, the US has some influence and can urge them to not fire upon the protesters on pain of being completely cut off.

I have no doubt that there has been significant US influence that has prevented the military from acting in an aggressive manner.
