Douglas, if we can set religion aside, is democracy the answer? There was a time when Col Garang and Mr.el-Mahdi fought side by side to bring a so called democratic governement to Sudan and succeeded. Soon afterward in 1985 Col Garang declared war on the Mr el-Mahdi's government. Was it a failure to negotiate that brought even worse conditions to date? Ed
