Duncan's views are spot on.

So long as policy-makers in both the East and the West continue to make plans based on Western consumption and Eastern production, both are doomed.

The structural imbalance is there for all to see. Of course, if Western demand falls, the Asian's reserves can be put to work by engaging in internal development. The choices are much more limited if you are a debtor. You can devalue and/or pay off debt, both of which are painful.

I had not heard of Duncan before. I am going to follow his stuff. The article was very impressive.
