The problem with Android is the name. While it may appeal to hardcore tech people, it's too sterile and unfeeling for the average consumer. Also, apparently Android, unlike Apple, doesn't screen the applications people can download. I think this is a mistake because when a subscriber downloads an app and discovers it's lousy, it will make the subscriber reluctant to take a chance on another one. Maybe Android could develop a rating system to help subscribers. It would be labor intensive, but it would be worth it, in my opinion.

As for the iPhone, Apple has basically co-opted 3G from Qualcomm and the other handset manufacturers, not that Qualcomm made it difficult.
