Personally, I’d be happiest if the deal falls apart.
Assuming it does go through with a cash per share payment plus CVR, my initial reaction is:
1) to reallocate the cash portion of the deal according to the usual practice;
2) if the CVR is traded, treat it (as Peter suggests) like an addition to the portfolio;
3) if the CVR is not traded, add its “intrinsic value” (now estimated as $5-$6 per share) to the cash portion and reallocate the total.
Of course, I’ll make any decision based on feedback from other contestants. But, since only TECHNET’s portfolio holds GENZ, the Contest rankings won’t be much changed no matter which route is taken.
Meanwhile, I have a much bigger dilemma: Who should I root for in the Super Bowl? I always root for team in the Super Bowl that can be traced back to the old NFL because, according to the almost infallible “Super Bowl Indicator,” an NFL win means the stock market is sure to finish the year higher. But since the football historians claim both the Packers & Steelers are “old NFL” teams, I am stumped.
Please help!
