KLP, I worked for two Fortune 500 corporations through three economic cycles. Trust me when I say that workers share in the downturns and are impacted when the company's profits wane.

In fact, in my experience, each time the good times returned and the company's were back in high clover, the employees never quite returned to their former status. In other words, they experienced a a slight slippage. It was more pronounced for those of us who worked on straight commission, as the commission formulas were tweaked everytime a downturn in company profits occurred....but not restored when the even bigger profits came back.

This was the reality at plenty of American corporations throughout the eighties thru the present. A long slow squeeze.
Now this doesn't mean I agree with Obama's irritating pronouncement. I also agree with you that Obama does not understand basic economic and financial market principles. I do, however, understand his sentiments.
