I would venture that mystery and mysticism are different. Mystics are like spiritists. They see and seek the action of spirit in life and nature. Also, built into the definitio of the mystic is the definition and pursuit of a path to become more spiritual; in effect a magical discipline. Mysticism is action.
Mystery is broader. There is the trivial meaning of the incomprehensible. The word is also used for the experience of the awesome, but without necessarily making the leap to the mystic world of discrete spirit.

Rationalists are ultimately people. Those (rationalist or otherwise) who do not have room in their minds and hearts for awe have my sympathy rather than my admiration.
